Implemented advanced trust fund forecasting for a Paid Family Leave program to reduce the tax rate on businesses, extended the maximum length of benefits for claimants, and expanded benefit eligibility requirements.
Designed a more equitable Public Charter School Accountability Framework to inform critical oversight decisions and communicate school performance to parents making school choice decisions.
Provided data-driven decision-making and operational support to address the substantial influx of asylum seekers into New York City.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Data Analyst to join our team focused on managing Hazard Mitigation Grants (HMG). This role will play a critical role in analyzing grant data, generating reports, and providing insights to optimize our grant management process and improve community preparedness. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, exceptional organizational, communication, procedural skills, and a keen attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with program managers and other team members to ensure data accuracy and effective utilization.
Proactively communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
Partner with consultants to translate client needs into actionable strategies across diverse sectors.
Clean, transform, and query data to generate actionable insights.
Analyze and interpret grant data from various sources, including application details, project budgets, and progress reports.
Develop and maintain data visualizations (dashboards, charts) to track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to grant programs.
Build and maintain data models and dashboards to support ongoing monitoring and evaluation of grants management, KPIs, and workload management.
Identify trends and patterns in grant data to inform decision-making on program effectiveness and resource allocation.
Support grant writing and application development by providing data-driven justifications and cost estimates.
Assist with the creation and maintenance of grant databases and tracking systems.
Generate reports for internal and external stakeholders on grant program performance and impact.

Desired Qualifications:

Self-organization to work independently when necessary.
Positive attitude in handling stress and working in a fast-paced environment.
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., business, economics, software engineering, data analysis) with a strong foundation in research and analysis.
2-6 years of experience in a related role, such as business analyst, data analyst, UX researcher, grants manager, or design researcher.
Proven ability to conduct and analyze quantitative and qualitative research, including user research.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) and design thinking methodologies.
Proficient in data analysis and basic geographic mapping with PowerBI, Tableau, Salesforce, and/or QuickBooks.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
A passionate curiosity about people, a problem-solving mindset, and a desire to make a difference through meaningful design.
