The Bulwark is seeking a Video Editor to create clips out of our weekly podcast productions, as well as stand-alone short-form videos. This position is remote or in-person and will begin on a month-to-month contract basis. Job Description

The Video Editor will be responsible for editing podcast episodes, making short clips from the podcasts, and editing other short-form videos for online audiences. We are looking for someone who places an emphasis on turning out smart and engaging content for social.

Our podcasts are generally not scripted and follow an interview-and-conversation format, and we release an 13+ per week on average. The ideal candidate is a creative professional with a strong interest in politics and the politics of culture.

The chosen candidate will begin on a month-to-month contract basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

Edit videos for our daily podcasts and create other video content as needed.
Create viral thumbnails, descriptions, and titles for videos.
Capture b-roll, including pictures, videos, and audio from the internet.
Proactive about creating content and coming up with new concepts for videos.
Work on tight deadlines.

Required Experience

At least one year of relevant work experience in related areas of video editing and video production.
Proficient in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop (After Effects is a plus).
Knowledge of how to download pictures, video, and audio from the internet, including how to screen capture and record internal audio.
Knowledge of the AutoPod plugin.
Understands audio effects such as hard limiters.
Must have your own computer.
Have a strong editorial judgment and an understanding of the current political news cycle, which will dictate what short clips you will create from the longer-form podcasts.
Self-motivated and collaborative with other team members.
Ability to incorporate feedback from producers.
Strong knowledge of YouTube and other social media platforms.
Open to feedback and constructive criticism.
Has a demo reel.
