The Grant Writer and Stewardship Manager will identify sources and develop strategies to secure funding to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Grant management responsibilities include Federal Funding as needed, grant reports, and annual or project status and summary reports.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include preparation of proposals and grant applications, and performance of responsible professional and administrative work in researching, identifying, developing and responding to public and private grant opportunities in areas that support The Center for Cartoon Studies (CCS) programs. The position is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on the performance of overall CCS development and of the program activities that are funded. This person also works with the development team to build and maintain relationships with donors and grant funders. Duties include:

Write funding requests and grant applications; adapt and edit proposals, concept papers and letters of inquiry for submission to foundations, corporations, and government agencies
Be involved in day-to-day grant management, including, but not limited to, maintaining project management for individual grants; assisting with the development and management of a response archive, and scheduling meetings with internal and external stakeholders. Work with the Operations Manager to develop budgets for grant project related activities and expenditures.
Conduct research for potential funding sources; maintain funding opportunity databases; and provide timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements, and procedures.
Monitor and interpret regulations to ensure regulatory compliance for government grants; inform and advise institutional representatives of compliance issues.
Conduct internal and external research for statistics and other information to support grant proposals; gather information that will facilitate understanding of the concept of projects/programs for which funding is sought.
Maintain contact with grant-making organizations throughout the lifecycle of any grant.
Manage the process of progress report submissions for awarded grants from foundations, agencies, etc.
Work closely with the development team in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals; acquire and maintain comprehensive knowledge of the organization to enhance understanding of projects for which grants are sought and to recommend most appropriate sources of funding.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week on average.

Qualifications

2-3 years professional grant writing experience required; 3-5 years preferred
Demonstrated experience in developing and writing program grant proposals to private and public funding sources, including development of program activities, supporting graphics, budgets and budget narrative, timelines, and job descriptions.
Working knowledge and experience with federal and state grant application and reporting guidelines and requirements as well as current best practices, including electronic submission of grant proposals.
Strong expository and persuasive writing skills, a high-level command of grammar and spelling, demonstrated ability to write and edit with consistent accuracy and compelling messages, demonstrated ability to match writing style with audience.
Ability to gather, analyze, and evaluate a variety of data.
Highly organized with ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate multiple projects.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Strong computer skills – excellent command of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, familiarity working with databases, and donor databases.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty/staff in various departments/disciplines.

Online/Remote

This is an online/remote position however we would prefer some time on location early on in the new role, and possibly for special planning meetings or projects. While this position is remote, some travel is expected for training, events or meetings, etc. This might include 1 to 3 times per year.
