Job Title: Virtual Tax Preparer

Job Overview:

The Virtual Tax Preparer provides professional tax preparation services for individuals, small businesses, and other entities. Working remotely, this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and knowledge of tax laws and regulations to ensure accurate and compliant tax filings. Follow directions, be coachable but more importantly have great work ethic, integrity be trustworthy and honest.

Key Responsibilities:

Review financial records, such as income statements and documentation of expenditures.
Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns using tax preparation software.
Identify potential tax deductions, credits, and liabilities to maximize refunds or minimize tax payments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Communicate with clients to gather necessary tax information and documentation.
Assist clients with tax-related questions, providing guidance on tax strategies and planning.
Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and procedures to ensure accuracy.
File tax returns electronically or provide instructions for physical filing.
Collaborate with clients through video calls, emails, and secure document-sharing platforms.
Handle any correspondence with tax authorities regarding returns.

Qualifications:

Certification as a tax preparer State and IRS requirements
Proven experience in tax preparation, especially in a virtual environment.
Familiarity with tax software (e.g., TurboTax, TaxAct, Drake, etc.), not required
Strong knowledge of federal and state tax codes and regulations
Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.).
Understanding of client confidentiality and data security.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with complex tax returns, including those for businesses, estates, and trusts, not required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to explain tax concepts in simple terms for clients without a tax background.

Work Environment:

Fully remote position with flexible work hours, especially during tax season.
Must have access to a secure computer, reliable internet, and any necessary software.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal, Contract

Pay: $4,272.00 per month

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
