Title: Contract Graphic Designer

Organization: Winthrop Rockefeller Institute

Location: Remote

We seek a talented and motivated Contract Graphic Designer to collaborate with our Advancement department, responsible for marketing, communications, and fundraising for the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute. This person will develop graphics both for print and digital platforms that enhance our accompanying text.

This role requires a highly creative individual who can operate within the framework of our style and brand guidelines to produce original and engaging visual content. The Design & Advancement Officer has final approval over the contractor’s submitted work and will be the main point of contact throughout the contract timeline.

Our ideal candidate has a strong portfolio of successful design work, a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, and comprehensive, expert-level knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva. This position is non-benefited, and no onsite work is required. The contractor will submit a Form W-9.

Contract Graphic Designer Duties and Responsibilities

Engage directly with Institute staff and stakeholders during project briefs to ensure a unified, mission-centered approach to visual solutions.
Working within established brand and style guidelines, deliver novel visual solutions that support larger campaign goals.
Create specialized assets for use on social media and print designs.
Implement feedback and changes when appropriate.
Communicate in a very timely manner with the Design & Advancement Officer via email, Teams chat, Basecamp, and phone.
Pass the final design to the Advancement team for release.
Maintain a work environment that allows consistent access to your own computer and internet connection.
Use an Institute-provided email address (through Microsoft Outlook) for all Institute-related communications.

Contract Graphic Designer Requirements and Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in graphic design is preferred; sufficient experience or alternative training will suffice when paired with a qualified portfolio.
Portfolio of extensive designs used in successful marketing campaigns.
Comprehensive knowledge of design software, including Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, as well as Canva.
Excellent design aesthetics, detail-oriented, resourceful, and strong organizational skills.
Team player and able to manage/prioritize their work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Experience with both print and electronic media designs.
Familiarity with PhotoShelter, Basecamp, and Microsoft 365 preferred.

Other Requirements

Must be able to acknowledge receipt of design requests and provide the expected timeline of design delivery within two business days (Monday – Friday).
Must provide an invoice for labor to the Institute monthly (bimonthly also possible) and receive payment via check.
Must follow all IT security policies regarding licenses, systems, and tools.
Unless the candidate lives outside Arkansas, make a good faith effort to attend a one-day onboarding trip to the Institute in Morrilton, Arkansas. The Institute will cover meals and lodging (if needed), and mileage will be reimbursed.
Arkansas-based designer preferred but not required.

Compensation

The pay is $35-45 per hour, based on experience.
The maximum contract amount is $15,000 between the date of hiring and June 30, 2025. We anticipate continuing this contract in future fiscal years pending budget and would like to build a long-term relationship if it suits all parties.
The anticipated monthly workload is between 30-40 hours.
