What You'll Do:
We are looking for an experienced Associate Product Manager to participate in the creation of new products and features, from the idea stage to launch.
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience in end-to-end project management. Your main responsibilities include gathering product requirements, prioritizing feature implementations and improving overall user experience. Our ideal candidates should combine technical background with a Business Administration or Marketing degree.
Ultimately, you’ll work with internal and external teams to build products that fill gaps in to better the end-to-end customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Propose and drive product enhancements to improve internal / external user experience
- Do market research of new software releases within the travel or operational space
- Conduct research to identify customer needs and process gaps
- Produce wireframes and flow diagrams to describe user/system interactions.
- Create feature briefs and customer journeys for custom software development
- Liaise with the development partners to create project timelines, budgets, release plans, and change requests
- Create (and perform) quality assurance controls on products
- Coordinate with the internal architecture and data teams to deliver functional solutions
- Prioritize the implementation of new features and set specific timelines
- Monitor and report on users’ reactions after launching
- Create support and training documents for internal and external users
- Participate in system configuration and data mapping efforts
- Facilitate and document the discovery and design phases of new product development.
- Work with internal stakeholders/customers to interpret business requirements and produce functional specifications.
Requirements And Skills
- Previous work experience as a Junior Product Manager, Business Analyst, or similar role
- Experience managing the entire product lifecycle, including QA and user testing
- Familiarity with market research, conducting user behavior research and interviews
- Hands-on experience with web technologies
- Knowledge of project management tools, like Jira or Asana
- Strong time management skills
- Good communication skills along with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams

Salary Ranges:
$90,000.00 - $130,000.00
At Backroads, we uphold a commitment to transparency and fairness within our hiring process, particularly regarding compensation. The salary range posted for each role applies to both employment offers and employees actively working in the role.
New hires are typically offered a starting salary between the minimum and midpoint of the range to ensure there is continued opportunity for salary progression during your employment at Backroads, reflecting our commitment to rewarding ongoing dedication, high performance, and significant contributions to our team. This approach not only supports our budgeting strategy but also our intention to foster an environment that encourages long-term growth and strong relationships between Backroads and our valued employees.
Our office roles are onsite in our Berkeley headquarters, unless specifically noted as 'available for remote'. We do allow one work-from-home day a week, as well as one work-from-anywhere week per year. This pay range is intended for in-person work in our Berkeley, CA headquarters. Pay ranges for remote-eligible roles will be subject to adjustment based on the geolocation of the employee.
