We are looking for a Junior Software Design Engineer (Hybrid – Houston, TX) for a global B2B high-tech company. In this role, you will be responsible for design, development, maintenance, testing, and quality and performance assurance of system software products.
This is a 5-month (extensions likely), 40-hour-per-week role. This is a hybrid role in Houston, TX.

Responsibilities
- Maintenance and enhancement: Makes changes to system software to correct errors in the original implementation and creates extensions to existing programs to add new features or performance improvements.
- Major enhancement and new product design: Designs and develops major functional or performance enhancements for existing products, or produces new software products or tools.
- Quality and performance assurance: Reviews requirements, specifications, and designs to assure product quality; develops and implements plans and tests for product quality or performance assurance.
- Applies the basic foundation of a function’s principles, theories, and concepts to assignments of limited scope.
- Utilizes professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialized training, education, or previous experience.
- Exercises independent judgment within defined parameters. Develops expertise and practical knowledge of applications within the business environment.
- Acts as a team member by providing information, analysis, and recommendations in support of team efforts.
Requirements
- Experience in multiple software systems design tools and languages.
- Experience in Programming software for operating systems, utilizing machine assembly and/or job control languages and software capabilities.
- Bachelor’s Degree
