Reporting To: Head of Research, Family Office
Job Summary: As a Data Scientist reporting to the Head of Research within our Family Office, you will play a critical role in analyzing complex data sets to provide insights and support strategic decision-making processes. You will work closely with the research team to develop and implement advanced analytical models and algorithms, contributing to the optimization of investment strategies and risk management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Analysis and Modeling:
- Utilize advanced statistical techniques and machine learning algorithms to analyze large and diverse data sets.
- Develop predictive models to forecast market trends, asset performance, and economic indicators.
- Identify patterns, correlations, and anomalies in data to derive actionable insights.
- Research Support:
- Collaborate with the research team to gather and preprocess data relevant to macroeconomic analysis, asset pricing, and investment strategies.
- Support research initiatives by providing data-driven insights and recommendations.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover new opportunities and areas for research.
- Model Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement quantitative models to evaluate investment opportunities and assess portfolio risk.
- Enhance existing models and algorithms to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Validate models through back-testing and sensitivity analysis, ensuring robustness and reliability.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including investment managers and senior executives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including researchers, portfolio managers, and IT professionals.
- Communicate technical concepts and methodologies in a clear and concise manner to non-technical audiences.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related field.
- Proven experience in quantitative analysis, data modeling, and machine learning techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, with experience in data manipulation and analysis libraries (e.g., pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn).
- Strong understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and risk management concepts.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality in data analysis and modeling.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the financial services industry, particularly within a family office or investment management firm.
- Familiarity with alternative data sources, such as web scraping, satellite imagery, or social media data.
- Knowledge of database systems and querying languages (e.g., SQL) for data extraction and manipulation.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
- Certification in data science or related fields (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, Chartered Financial Analyst).
