Job Description
We’re seeking a sharp-minded, strategic, and highly accountable copywriter with at least 3 years of relevant experience to join the GBG creative team. If you’re both a writer and a marketer, please continue reading.
GBG produces and distributes a wide variety of content, including technical/blog articles, premium content, sales and marketing emails, paid ads, sales collateral, websites, social media, and more for our clients (all B2B and primarily in manufacturing, specialty construction, and professional services).
We’re seeking someone who can operate at a conceptual level in the collaboration and ideation of campaign concepts and strategies, as well as at a tactical level in content creation. This role is client-facing, and our Copywriter will be involved in presenting work to clients and internal teams. They are responsible for leading subject matter expert interviews that turn into content, and they play a key role in live workshops. And finally, our content team is key in building trust with our clients by understanding their business and producing killer quality work.
Expectations
- Own your knowledge inside and out, including the subject matter of client businesses, their audiences, and also marketing best practices (SEO, email marketing, social media, etc.)
- Embrace AI and new technology to enhance your efficiency and output
- Conduct keyword research and incorporate SEO best practices and keywords into on-page content for websites and blogs
- Be fiercely curious about our clients and their business
- Work in lockstep with marketing strategists, content strategists, and designers to produce work that achieves its defined objectives
- Ideate, research, and craft compelling long-form and short-form copy
- Work in print, digital, and multimedia formats
- Write for clients in a variety of B2B industries, with varying writing styles
- Manage multiple assignments within deadlines while maintaining killer quality
- Be conscious of the budget and scope of projects
- Collaborate directly with clients on revisions and approvals through Google Docs and Loomly (social media management tool)
- Lead stakeholders and client customers interviews, capture notes, and translate takeaways into messaging and/or content
- Maintain current knowledge of trending B2B marketing and content activities, best practices, and events (i.e., approaches, popular executions, seminars, workshops, etc.)
- Participate and/or lead in the development of content and social strategies
Qualifications
- Experience with search engine optimization (SEO) and/or search engine marketing (SEM) fields (on-site, local and link-building)
- Experience with crafting marketing campaigns
- Experience with email in a variety of formats (cold/sales emails to email newsletters)
- Awareness of B2B lead generation best practices and technology
- Understanding of distribution business models a plus
- High attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal skills
- Strong presentation and persuasion skills
- Enjoyment of writing, marketing, and advertising
- Have high standards for yourself and others
- Excellent brainstorming and lateral thinking abilities

- 3+ years of professional writing experience
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field of study

Responsibilities
- Develop core website, product page, and landing page copy
- Develop email nurturing sequences, cold email sequences, and email marketing newsletters
- Copywriting for paid advertising (print and digital)
- Develop blog articles, case studies, and premium content
- Conduct interviews to develop blog articles/case studies and get information and insight from subject matter experts
- Create social media posts in collaboration with designers
- Create concepts, promotions, and campaign copy and headlines
- Create, maintain, and execute content calendars for a variety of clients
- Proofreading and editing
- Drive client aspirations to fruition with your knowledge of industry and digital trends
- Contribute ideas for content and campaigns
- Conduct basic research to supplement your knowledge of our clients and their categories
- Working closely with the GBG strategy team to drive strategy, interpreting reports to advise clients, and help them make informed decisions
Travel Expectations
We occasionally travel to out-of-town clients for key meetings, and our team sometimes attends industry conferences or trade shows. Travel will likely occur fewer than four times per year. While we are a hybrid environment and conduct most client meetings remotely, you may also be required to attend onsite client meetings in the St. Louis area (once per month or less frequently).
