Overview:
As a Licensing and Permits Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to alcohol and food handling. You will be responsible for obtaining, renewing, and maintaining licenses and permits necessary for the operation of our establishment. Your attention to detail, knowledge of regulatory requirements, and ability to navigate complex licensing processes will be essential in this role.
Responsibilities:
Licensing Management:
Obtain, renew, and maintain all necessary licenses and permits related to the sale and distribution of alcohol and food products as well as operation of all facilities.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing the sale, serving, and handling of alcohol and food items.
Monitor license expiration dates including building permits and elevator licenses and initiate renewal processes in a timely manner to prevent disruptions to business operations.
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with changes in licensing requirements, regulations, and industry standards related to alcohol and food handling.
Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and address any issues promptly.
Collaborate with relevant departments to implement corrective actions and improve compliance processes.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all licenses, permits, and regulatory documents, including renewal dates and compliance status.
Prepare and submit required reports and documentation to regulatory agencies as needed.
Organize and maintain a comprehensive database of licensing information for easy access and reference.
Communication and Liaison:
Serve as the primary point of contact for licensing agencies, inspectors, and other regulatory authorities.
Facilitate communication between internal stakeholders and external agencies to address licensing inquiries, inspections, and compliance issues.
Collaborate with legal counsel as needed to address legal and regulatory matters related to licensing and permits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred.
Multi-unit national level experience preferred.
Previous experience in licensing, permits, regulatory compliance, or a similar role, with a focus on alcohol and food handling regulations.
In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing the sale, distribution, and handling of alcohol and food products.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database management software preferred.
Additional Information:
This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate licensing inspections or deadlines.
A valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for travel to licensing agencies or off-site meetings.
Training or certification in alcohol server training programs (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol) may be beneficial.
