We’re looking for an early career journalist eager to showcase Christianity Today’s (CT) thought leadership and reporting on established and emerging social platforms.
Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Create and schedule posts across platforms—Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Telegram, Threads, TikTok—with performance strategy top of mind, and in collaboration with our Editorial and Media teams.
- Work with our Design team to create graphics for Instagram and elsewhere. Knowledge of Canva (or willingness to learn) is a plus.
- Storyboard and produce short videos for Instagram and TikTok, with possible on-camera work. Knowledge of CapCut (or willingness to learn) is a plus.
- Maintain knowledge of latest social media technologies and best practices (i.e., new tools, algorithm changes); manage account credentials.
- Monitor and engage with CT’s community across social platforms.
- Assist our Marketing and Mission Advancement teams with special social campaigns.
- Collaborate with Senior Editor of Culture and Engagement to analyze reader feedback, learn from engagement data, and come up with new ideas for original, social-first content.
- This role may also assist with newsletter production, the CT letters to the editor inbox, and other engagement-related tasks.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience with social-scheduling software, CMS, graphic design (Canva, InCopy), video editing (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro) is preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in journalism, communications, marketing, or PR is preferred. Student journalism experience and relevant internships are considered experience.
- Strong news judgment and excellent writing and copy-editing skills.
- Ability to multitask and make quick decisions in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- Wisdom and integrity when speaking as the “voice of CT” on social media. Understanding of CT’s unique role in the media landscape.
- Creative approach to social storytelling; willingness to try out emerging platforms, implement fresh strategies, and dream up social-first content in collaboration with colleagues.
- Passion for conveying the stories and ideas of the global church.
