The Security and Support Engineer will oversee cyber security policy development and execution, review and remediate vulnerabilities, provide support for security incidents, training, end user technical support, and infrastructure support and maintenance. In addition, this role will be a key member of our Information Security team working closely with the Development and DevOps teams to act as a liaison and go-to person for cyber security best practices. This is a hands-on technical role that will work closely with IT management, leadership, and business units to ensure alignment with the overall business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade security software enterprise-wide to prevent cyber-attacks.
- Monitor network for security breaches and respond to successful attacks with the appropriate countermeasures.
- Provide a balance of high level and technical knowledge of network, server, cloud computing, and client computer security best practices.
- Work closely with Developers and DevOps Engineers to ensure seamless secure integration of new applications into the network.
- Work closely with vendors as needed.
- Administer, document, and maintain the organization's security procedures and policy.
- Create and maintain a disaster recovery plan.
- Enforce and execute the organizations security procedures and policy.
- Educate [technical and non-technical] employees on computer security and promote security awareness and security protocols to the business.
- Provide a balance of high-level and technical knowledge of network, server, cloud computing, and client computer administration and support.
- Provide tactical and strategic input on overall network planning and related projects.
- Meet with key members of user base to determine hardware and software needs to ensure peak productivity and keep our hardware up to date.
- Own the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources.
- Develop, maintain, and test procedures for all server backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Work closely with CIO on strategic initiatives for infrastructure and network projects.
- Partner with the DevOps team to maintain Microsoft Customer Agreements
- Develop and execute all internal and external end user tech support services and processes.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years in IT, support, or infrastructure. At least 2 years in IT security.
- Experience writing and maintaining security policies
- Microsoft Azure experience
- Ability to work in-person at our office in downtown Houston
- Interest in learning about our programs and contributing to our growth

Compensation:
- Annual Salary: $115,000 - $125,000
- Annual bonus based on team production
Supervision structure:
- This position reports to the Chief Information Officer
- No direct supervision of employees
- Part of the Security and Support Teams, within the IT Division
Other duties:
- Attend daily and weekly meetings
- Complete quarterly reviews
