Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth user research to understand New Yorkers' challenges.
- Develop a UX Research toolkit with methodologies for different product phases.
- Design, plan, and analyze surveys, usability tests, experiments, and A/B tests.
- Compile and present well-documented research findings for stakeholders.
- Manage multiple UX research projects simultaneously.
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
- Recruit diverse users for unbiased research.
- Promote a culture of human-centered design and data-driven decision-making.
- Inspire and educate colleagues and partners in evidence-based research methods.
Mandatory Skills/Experience
- Proven experience in quantitative user experience research with a robust portfolio of successful projects, including survey design, competitive analysis, heuristic reviews, user interviews, field studies, usability testing, and experimentation.
- Proficiency in analyzing and presenting data from Google Analytics and user testing platforms such as UserTesting.com, as well as A/B testing tools.
- Deep understanding of various research methods and the ability to apply them appropriately throughout different product phases.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring data accuracy and the use of statistically sound methodologies.
- Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations.
- Experience in unbiased user recruitment aligning with specified demographic and behavioral profiles.
- Commitment to exploring creative solutions that enhance the digital experience for New Yorkers, supported by strategic, data-driven, and analytical research.
- Proven ability to inspire and educate City partners and colleagues in human-centered design and data-driven research methodologies.
- Experience as the first quantitative researcher on a team or within an organization.
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Data Science, Statistics).
- experience conducting quantitative user research across all phases of product design.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and interpret valid patterns and trends in data.
- Understanding of statistical principles to evaluate data effectively.
- Expertise in methodologies that prevent research pitfalls, such as avoiding overgeneralization, ensuring unbiased methods, and validating data sources.
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams to deliver user-centric products and services that meet organizational goals.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design concepts and strategies to partners and cross-functional teams.
- A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in design practice and past projects.
