About the position
The Tax Preparer has the responsibility of helping clients by making sure the tax forms are accurate. Also, they have activities such as calculating tax returns and managing the connection between tax authorities and clients.
Your main responsibilities
- Accurately prepare and e-file business tax returns for both the IRS and state tax authorities;
- Proficiently operate Drake software to streamline and enhance the tax return preparation process;
- Familiarize yourself with the different filing dates and requirements for individuals and corporations to ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns;
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact the preparation process;
- Determine and calculate estimated tax payments for limited liability companies (LLCs) and corporation
- Utilize the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) to submit quarterly tax payments on behalf of clients;
- Verify payment amounts, confirm payment confirmations, and maintain updated records of payments in Excel;
- Communicate with the IRS to address and resolve client issues, such as discrepancies, inquiries, or audits;
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of correspondence received by mail. Scan and store documents in Google Drive and create a card in Pipefy, our workflow management system, to track and resolve outstanding issues;
- Utilize our ticketing system to manage and address client requirements efficiently. Prioritize and resolve tickets within established timeframes while providing exceptional service to clients;
- Collaborate with other departments to fulfill tax-related requirements or provide requested information;
- Maintain effective communication channels to ensure seamless cooperation;
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the tax department playbook. Document and update processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure consistency and standardization of tax preparation practices.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required
Education and Experience:
- Proficient English and Portuguese;
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance or related field;
- 1+ years of proven experience as a tax preparer or related roles, with a focus on business tax returns.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Drake Tax software;
- Active PTIN required;
- Minimum knowledge of fiscal and tax regulations for non-residents;
- Understanding of sales tax concepts and principles;
- Accounting comprehension and attention to detail in data entry and performing complex calculations;
- Proficiency in using Excel for data manipulation, calculations and reporting;
- Analytical and critical thinking mindset for identifying and resolving sales tax discrepancies;
- Effective communication skills to interact with team members, customers and tax authorities;
- Ability to work independently and as a team and to manage time efficiently.
It will be advantageous if
- You have experience working in similar companies;
- You speak other languages, such as Spanish.

Type of Recruitment
Hybrid position - The candidate must be available to work from the office three times a week, especially during the first six months of the year.
