Your Challenge::
This role performs a variety of accounting duties for HIMSS, such as tax reconciliation, bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll and expense control and processing. The main objectives are to help support management of HIMSS’s financial processes and operations, which include reviewing invoices, running non-US payroll, budgeting, tax preparation, Chapter reporting and external audit requests.
Essential Functions:
- Managing all non-US payroll tasks and also ensuring that the United States payroll registrations are up to date and regularly maintained.
- Preparing financial documents such as invoices, tax filings, and monthly profit reports.
- Maintaining files on accounts payable and updating records as required.
- Managing the expense reporting process.
- Ensuring that suppliers are informed of any changes to service agreements and payment options.
- Updating management on any financial discrepancies found during tax filing or invoicing duties.
- Managing the maintenance and archiving of financial documentation and updating accounting databases on a monthly or annual basis.
- Researching issues for the CFO as requested, plus drafting correspondence and exhibits as needed.
- Adhering to best practices in accounting, as outlined by company guidelines and industry experts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Internal Relationships – Has contact with:
- Works across the enterprise at all levels of the organization to complete tasks.
External Relationships – Has contact with:
- External auditors.
- HIMSS Volunteers, Chapter leaders and members, including, Individual, Affiliate, Corporate, Non-profit Partners and Organizational HIMSS members.
- State, local, regional, and country parties related to payroll, tax, and audit responsibilities.
What you will need to be successful::
- Associate Degree in accounting, business, administration, or similar.
- Minimum of five (5) years of solid experience in accounting or finance.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (using financial formulas and creating spreadsheets).
- Solid data entry skills with an ability to identify numerical error.
- Understanding of financial processes such as bookkeeping and tax filing.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tax filing and audit procedures.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy.
- The ability to collaborate with coworkers, clients, and suppliers.
