Exploration Project Manager
About Gold Candle Ltd.:
Gold Candle is a privately funded Canadian exploration company that is actively drilling and conducting exploration activities to evaluate gold mineralization present around the historic workings of the Kerr-Addison Mine, situated in McGarry Township located in Northern Ontario.
Since the Company’s foundation in 2015, Gold Candle drilled over 120,000m on the property and extensive land position extending 6km along the Larder Lake Cadillac Break. Gold Candle successfully defined significant gold mineralization over the years. In addition, Gold Candle recently made a significant discovery of nickel sulfides on the property, validating the mineralized potential of the company’s land position.
A 2023 open-pit constraint Mineral Resource Estimate at Kerr-Addisson returned 1.8 million ounces of Indicated Resources and 3.4 million ounces of Inferred Resources. The Company is actively advancing an updated Mineral Resources Estimate aimed at unlocking the property’s potential at depth and along strike.
Reporting structure:
Reporting to the COO or their designate and working in close collaboration with their cross-shift, the Exploration Project Manager is an integral part of the management team leading the execution of the corporate strategic plan.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Exploration and drill program supervision, including logging of geological data and daily supervision of the drilling contractors and field work.
- Supervise, coordinate, and assign geological activities including hole planning, core shack activities, environmental field work and any other activities carried out by the site team.
- Monitoring work in progress and results, adjusting the program as required and tracking costs.
- Responsible for the recruitment and supervision of the site team.
- Ensures all environmental, health and safety systems are followed.
- Main point of contact and acting as company representative when on site with government officials, township representatives, community members, First Nations and other stakeholders as required.
- Validation and quality control of all exploration data to ensure a robust exploration database.
- Extraction, manipulation and plotting of data on plans and sections using exploration and mining software to visualize and present exploration results.
- Interpretation of geological, assay and geophysical data.
- Report writing, including internal exploration reports and statutory reports, and
- presentation of results and recommendations to colleagues and management.
- Facilitate weekly management meetings with key personnel keeping the group informed on activities and ongoing work.
Broad Responsibilities:
- Oversight and execution of all exploration activities undertaken by the Company.
- Oversight on quality control and quality assurance processes related to the collection and processing of all data generated from exploration activities.
- Contribute and/or develop communications strategy with local stakeholders, including all levels of Government as well as First Nations; including the management of any and all agreements entered into with local stakeholders.
- Provide top-level assistance to the COO or their designate on the formulation and execution of the overall staffing structure, work plans and budgets. Along with recommendations and strategies to establish the development of medium to long term strategic targets.
- Collaboration with the resource modelling and Projects study teams to ensure that all relevant geological information is fully understood and incorporated into resource models and any MRE, PEA, PFS, FS studies that are undertaken.
- Track performance of project’s financial performance against plan. Continuously evaluating improvement opportunities.
- Attend company and industry events and meetings as requested by the COO or their designate.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Provide clear work objectives, expectations, and performance levels to staff to achieve strategic goals. Ensuring personnel, equipment, and technical expertise are being used efficiently to meet the defined objectives.
- Lead performance by setting expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and providing feedback and coaching to direct reports.
- Strong leadership, initiative, autonomy, and ability to prioritize work and coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, provide sound problem-solving techniques to resolve potential issues.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and communication between technical and non-technical groups, fostering a team-focused approach.
- Capacity to efficiently delegate tasks to team members while ensuring support, oversight and accountability is maintained.
- Ability to coach, mentor, develop GITs & technical staff in support of their career progression.
- Ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with staff and contractors to deliver on short- and long-term objectives of the company.
- The individual should have a high level of energy, self-motivation, and strong organizational skills.
Requirements:
- BSc. in Geology or Geological Engineering, eligibility for enrollment as a Professional Geoscientist is required.
- Ten (10) years of validated experience in a mine and/or exploration project with a significant portion in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in developing projects from Mineral Resource to Mineral Reserves and production would be highly regarded.
- Strong digital literacy is essential, including the ability to use and create excel spreadsheets and work with modeling software. Excellent skills are required in the use of 3D software such as Micromine and Leapfrog.
- GIS software knowledge will be seen as an asset.
- English language – fluent spoken and written English skills required, French abilities is an asset.
- Results oriented with excellent organizational, planning, management and decision-making skills.
- Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
Schedule/ Working Environment:
- Position is based on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation with details to be discussed with selected candidates.
