Job Title: Canvasser
Reports to: Office Director
Status: The position of Canvasser is not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is a 37.5 hour per week contract.
Attendance: At least a 90% attendance record is required in all roles within Pathway Strategy Group (PSG).
Additional Demands: The role includes carrying equipment, walking to and from sites, and standing for long periods of time. You will be expected to work outside and be exposed to extreme weather. Reliable transportation required.
Job Purpose
- To represent the ‘For Purpose’ clients of PSG by conveying key messages to potential supporters in order to secure high volumes of new committed donors with low attrition rates through Canvassing/Face to Face (F2F) Fundraising.
Key Accountabilities
F2F Recruitment of Committed Donors:
- Attend public and private sites, which may be indoors or outdoors, and are allocated in advance by PSG management to actively engage with members of the public to recruit new committed donors for the ‘For Purpose’ clients of PSG;
- Consistently exceed the recruitment targets set by the Office Director; this will normally be a minimum of 8 new committed donors per week within agreed quality metrics;
- Represent PSG, its clients, and yourself in a professional and informed manner at all times, and in accordance with the relevant industry and client Codes of Conduct;
- Maintain a regulated, calm, and upbeat emotional state; retain positive mindset to ensure potential donors are engaged with enthusiasm at all times;
- Provide accurate reporting and administration in line with management requirements; ensure all paper and electronic records are completed accurately;
- Provide your own means of reaching agreed work sites with all necessary equipment. You will be expected to travel to sites on a daily basis, and to be proactive in your journey planning;
- Be available to work unsocial hours including weekends, public holidays and some evenings as the nature of the role requires this;
- Maintain punctual attendance to training events and meetings as required.
Essential Qualifications And Attributes
- A successful track record in Canvassing/F2F Fundraising or Direct Sales;
- Professional level competence in written and spoken English;
- Accuracy in all written and electronic record keeping.
- Access to reliable transportation.

Base Pay
Base pay for a Canvasser is $20 - $24 an hour.
A full time Canvasser works 37.5 hours per week.

PSG Bonus Plans
The Objectives Of The PSG Bonus Plans Are
- to incentivize efficient, high-quality Fundraising: efficiency is measured by Per Shift Average (PSA) and quality by Month 1 Non-Payment Rate (M1);
- to ensure PSG Canvassers are the among the best paid in the USA;
- to have a system that rewards activity in an objective way;
- to have a system that is easy to understand and explain;
- to have a system that is easy to manage and apply.
Terms Used
Per Shift Average (PSA): The number of Donors recruited divided by the number of shifts worked over a period of time.
Donor: An individual, aged 25 or over, who makes an open-ended commitment to donate and who passes a verification process.
Minimum Quota: The level required in order to remain employed by PSG.
Base Pay: Hourly wage paid to all employees, at a rate dependent on the role. Base Pay is paid every two weeks in arrears.
Bonus Pay: Additional payment made in accordance with the relevant Bonus Plan. Bonus Pay is paid every two weeks in arrears.
Bonus Plan: The set of criteria for establishing Bonus Pay. This will be explained in the relevant section and is subject to change.
Bonus Threshold: The number of Donors required to be recruited in a week before Bonus Pay is earned.
Month 1 Non-Payment Rate (M1): the percentage of Donors from a given period who, through cancellation or non-payment, do not make their second donation at the scheduled time.

Cancellations
Original Bonus Amount clawed back from next two subsequent bonus payments for every Month 0 or Month 1 Cancellation or Donor for whom a second donation is not successfully collected, over and above an "allowance" of 10% of Donors recruited.

Any member of staff who has a M1 cancellation or non-payment rate of 20% or higher will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.
When Bonus May Be Withheld
Under No Circumstances Will Any Bonus Be Payable For Any Donor Who Is Signed Up Fraudulently. The List Of What Would Constitute Fraudulently Includes, But Is Not Limited To
- those with an incorrect date of birth, telephone number or email address;
- those with a credit card that is not in their own name;
- those known personally to the Canvasser, i.e. their friends or family;
- anyone who has expressed an intention to cancel the donation within a set period.
Serious complaints, the use of cancel language, or fraud may also result in the entire bonus pool being withheld.

Additional individual incentives may be added from time to time at the discretion of the PSG management team.
