What is the California Board of Psychology?
The California Board of Psychology dates back to 1958 when the first psychologists were certified in the State. The Board of Psychology is one of the regulatory entities which fall under the organizational structure of the Department of Consumer Affairs.
The Board consists of nine members (five licensed psychologists and four public members) who are appointed to the Board for four-year terms. Each member may serve a maximum of two full terms. The five licensed members and two of the public members are appointed by the Governor. One public member is appointed by the Senate Rules Committee, and one public member is appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly. Public members cannot be licensed by the Board of Psychology or by any other Department of Consumer Affairs healing arts board.

Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Assistance:
- Oversee and plan office operations and administrative procedures.
- Return calls, answer them, and take messages as needed.
- Aid in the creation of reports that are due on a regular basis.
Record-keeping and Filing:
- Organize and preserve both digital and physical files.
- Create and edit written materials, such as emails, reports, drafts, and letters.
Planning and Organizing:
- Make travel, appointment, and meeting schedules and coordinate them.
- Make sure that schedules are sent to pertinent parties on time.
Data Input:
- Fast and accurate data entry into systems and databases.
- Whenever necessary, keep and update records.
Customer-Servant Communication:
- Assist clients and guests and provide a warm greeting.
- Respond to questions and give clients information in a courteous way.
Office Administration:
- Maintain and restock office supplies.
- Make sure everything is efficient and well-organized in the office.
Qualifications:
- While having administrative experience or an associate's degree is preferred, a high school diploma or GED is still needed.
- previous experience in an administrative assistant position or a related job.
- Acquaintance with standard office equipment, such as printers and fax machines.
- Exceptional computer skills and knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Very well-organized, with outstanding time management skills and the ability to set priorities.
