As a key contributor, you will assess customer needs and create impactful content for web pages, digital applications, chatbots, user guides, and other customer-facing assets.

About the Role: The Digital Website Content Writer will work closely with our cross-functional project team to build and improve the State of Connecticut’s websites and digital assets. You will:
- Assess customer needs and create high-impact content.
- Structure, write, and apply user-focused content in page design.
- Track and analyze content effectiveness.
- Communicate user benefits over features.
- Show mastery of content taxonomy, SEO, service design, and optimizing customer journeys.
- Clearly communicate content issues and solutions to stakeholders.
Experiences Required For This Role
Website Content Writing (At least 3 years):
- Developing modern content for large websites with multiple departments.
- Creating high-level content strategies focused on logical taxonomies and human-focused design.
- Planning for content discovery, analysis, segmenting, creation, delivery, tracking, and governance.
- Aligning content with business goals and user needs.
- Conducting content inventories and audits.
- High proficiency in copywriting and motivating real people to action.
- Conducting in-depth industry-related research to develop and optimize content.
- Creating high-quality content for marketing, advertising, social media, and email campaigns.
- Editing and proofreading content for errors and inconsistencies.
SEO And Analytics (At Least 3 Years)
- Conducting keyword research and developing SEO strategies to increase SERP results and build traffic.
- Practicing both technical and on-page SEO methodologies.
- Developing high-impact KPIs and tracking content success.
- Using customer research and site analytics to ensure content meets user needs.
Content Lifecycle Governance (At Least 3 Years)
- Defining customer needs and identifying content gaps.

- Reviewing and improving content for accuracy, legibility, accessibility, and compliance.

- 3 years of website content writing for a company or institution with defined project-driven goals.
- Proficient in digital content standards and plain language guidelines.
- Experience with chatbots, search consoles, and helpdesk services.
- Proficiency with content tools, including development, inventory/auditing, and SEO tools.
- A portfolio of published online content.
- Industry certification in a related discipline.
- 1 year of experience using CRM platforms like Salesforce.
- 1 year of experience using Google Analytics (preferably GA4).
- 1 year of experience with data dashboard software like Power BI.
Administrative Considerations: The Digital Website Content Writer will work as part of an enterprise digital service team, iteratively on multiple website projects using agile sprints. Work will be assigned based on the product backlog associated with website improvements and may be adjusted as the project progresses. The engagement will be for up to 12 months, performed in eight-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, excluding State holidays. Extended remote work may be approved by the Chief Digital Officer or designated manager. Payment will be on a time and material basis and paid only for hours worked.
