What’s the position?
We are looking for a Backend Engineering Manager to join our quickly growing product and technology teams. As a Backend Manager, you will work as part of our team to lead a team of Backend engineering professionals working with Sportsbook, Trading, and Casino. The role requires an individual that’s dedicated to the customer’s experience, able to clearly voice and document issues and concerns within their engineering teams, and is passionate about sports. You will be responsible for empowering your team by providing the resources and autonomy needed to innovate, and offering continuous coaching to enhance their technical and professional skills. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in resolving conflicts by fostering open communication and effective solutions, while making informed decisions that drive our backend systems' reliability and scalability.
As a Backend Manager , your responsibilities will include:
- Lead, manage, and expand software engineers across multiple Pods and areas of expertise.
- Help shape technical strategy, planning, execution, resourcing and success of complex mission critical projects.
- Empower engineers to make sound technical decisions through mentorship and collaboration.
- Work with Architecture team to ensure detailed designs for high quality deliverables.
- Continuously focus on improving the scalability, reliability, security and performance of the platform while advocating for investment that align with strategic objectives
- Work with the cross-functional teams to identify, articulate, and mitigate Product and project issues
- Define engineering productivity success metrics for the team and create processes to continuously improve product delivery.
- Support career development for your team through structured and informal feedback, calibrations and mentorship.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, or other related scientific, technical or business discipline or related experience
- Minimum of three years job related experience.
- Demonstrated management abilities and effective group facilitation skills.
- Experience managing, mentoring, and recruiting team members.
- Experience developing engineering teams, and coordinating planning and collaborating with product, design, and other engineering groups.
- Professionalism - Ability to ethically communicate effectively in writing and verbally. Soft skills to represent the organization clearly and accurately.
- Self-driven, meticulous, and ability to prioritize in a complex and fast-paced environment
- A passion about all things sports betting and casino
