JOB SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of the Chief Nursing Officer and/or a Director, plans, manages, evaluates, and provides for the delivery of patient care, having 24 hour primary responsibility through optimal utilization of technical and human resources. Responsible for business and administrative activities such as:
Supervisory responsibility for patient care operations;
Development of operating and capital budgets, and monitoring revenues/expenses and capital budget for scope of operations;
Works with physician groups on evaluation of new technology, expansion of service lines, review of outcomes data for performance improvement and submits reports as required;
Develops annual customer service and quality goals;
Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines; and
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMAL ACCEPTABLE JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse; CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) within three (3)
months of hire, and all requirements as specified for the specialty unit/department.
Experience:
Three to four years of progressively more responsible experience utilizing registered nurse skills which
includes one-two years in a management role preferred.
Education:
Minimum of an Associate's Degree in Nursing. Completion of a Bachelor's Degree within three years of
date in position. Specialty certification, as approved by CNO may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s
Degree and must be completed within one year of date in position.
JOB KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
Demonstrates extensive knowledge of nursing care policies, procedures, techniques, equipment utilized and application regulations related to assigned services.
Requires strong working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (including neonate, child, adolescent, aging adult) and diagnosis of patient served to support the provision of an individualized multidisciplinary plan of care.
Requires knowledge of management theory and practice to effectively lead unit associates.
Requires in-depth analytical and organizational skills necessary to develop and implement unit programs, monitor unit operating efficiency, compliance with hospital policies and procedures and prepare/maintain related documentation/reports.
Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, in order to interact effectively with all internal and external unit customers, as needed.
