Tipton Health is seeking a FREELANCE Technical Editor/Document Review Specialist who will support nursing leaders and their teams to achieve recognition through various designations including the ANCC Pathway to Excellence and/or Practice Transition Accreditation Programs, and/or the Beacon, Prism and Lantern designations, by evaluating, editing and rewriting application documents in alignment with program requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess expertise in writing, data analysis and critical thinking skills and a strong desire to make a difference for the clients we serve. While not required, candidates with Nursing and/or Pathway to Excellence experience are preferred. The candidate must have 6-8 hours per week of time available for freelance document review assignments.
This is not a full-time position, but a contracted freelance job.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Critically evaluate client narratives and data alongside Pathway to Excellence and other designation requirements
- Proofread for grammar and spelling; use plain language concepts when writing
- Complete comprehensive edits and rewrites of client narratives
- Provide concise, actionable recommendations for clients relevant to evaluation criteria
- Follow established editing style/formatting and deliver recommendations in “one voice”/tone that aligns with the Tipton Team.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of Pathway to Excellence and other designation requirements and expectations
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Baccalaureate degree required
- Proposal or grant-writing experience (i.e., ability to tailor content to comply with requirements; experience working with annotated outlines and templates; understanding of iterative editing processes; can maintain version control)
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience editing technical, healthcare, or scientific content
- Understanding of basic healthcare concepts and specialized medical/nursing vocabulary
- Familiarity with ANCC Pathway to Excellence Program® preferred
- Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Word required (troubleshoot formatting and adhere to house styles)
- Intermediate-level experience with Microsoft Excel desired (manipulate data/graphs)
- 5 years Nursing/Process Improvement/Quality/Magnet/Technical Writing experience preferred
