The Task at Hand:
The Quality Documentation Intern reports directly to the Director of Science and Quality Management Systems and is responsible for ensuring that the company’s Testing and Certification and Documentation Programs comply with food safety policies, regulations, and ethical standards of the industry. You will work closely with certification agencies, suppliers, and our internal team members to support, submit, and assess documentation and to develop plans to improve compliance. This role will also partner closely with multiple internal teams including Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations depending on specific tasks.
In This Role, You Will:
• Focus on gathering and maintaining the documentation required to support compliance with claims, regulations, and quality systems
• Partner closely with multiple functions including Product Development, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Operations
• Maintain records and documentation as part of Organic, Kosher, non-GMO, and Clean Label Certification Programs
• Perform sample submissions, submission tracking, and data analysis, and report and investigate results for certification and compliance programs that require product testing
• Perform Product Claims Validation for product formulations
• Implement process improvements to testing requirements to streamline and improve reporting and data collection
• Maintain records and documentation related to certifications and documentation within the compliance platform software (TraceGains)
• Collaborate with Materials and Inventory Control teams to resolve exceptions associated with the ingredient hold and release program
• Track and perform submissions associated with product testing protocols for materials and finished products
• Assist in maintaining organic traceability documentation
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
In This Role, You’ll Bring with You:
• Recent graduate or currently pursuing degrees in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemistry, Quality Managment, or a related field
• No BA? No problem. Equivalent years of professional experience in the field(s) of Quality, Compliance Managment, or related focus areas will also meet this qualification
• Prior professional experience working in quality assurance or regulatory compliance in the food industry preferred
• Prior training and/or working knowledge of statistics, data analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE) preferred
• Excellent time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills required
• Strong communication and people partnership skills required
• Familiarity with industry standards related to compliance with regulatory requirements required
• Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Suite applications, Outlook, Slack, and other professional platforms
• Up to 10% travel may be required: Although this role is a remote work-from-home position, we “Farmers” do meet as a company and/or as a department a few times a year. Anticipate possible travel up to a few times each quarter
• Be genuinely passionate about improving childhood nutrition for a healthier and happier planet
• Have a desire to contribute to a dynamic high-growth, purpose-driven work environment
• Have demonstrated the ability to thrive in ambiguity, deeply understand business needs, develop a cohesive strategy, and make decisions requiring a high level of judgment
• Having previous exposure to cross-functional work between Sustainability and Quality is preferred
• Must reside in the United States to be considered for this position

Compensation:
• This role pays $22.00 per hour
• This is a part-time, hourly internship, not to exceed 29 hours per week
• Estimated Duration: July 2024 – January 2025 (or six months from the date of hire)
