Union Payroll Clerk
An established San Francisco public works contractor requires an EXPERIENCED individual for managing union payroll. The ideal person will have extensive experience (5 years or more) in payroll processing, tax regulations, and accounting principles. This person must be familiar with all aspects of Certified Payroll – Elations, LCP Tracker, DIR, etc. Must also have knowledge of prevailing wage, monthly union reporting, workers’ comp, OCIP reporting, and work comp audits. Prefer experience with SAGE 100 accounting system but will consider experience with other programs.
Responsibilities include:
· Payroll Processing
· Process payroll for union employees accurately and timely.
· Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions as per union agreements.
· Verify hours worked and ensure compliance with union contracts and labor laws.
· Calculate and process union dues, benefits, and other withholdings.
· Maintain records of union deductions and ensure timely remittance to union offices.
· Maintain and update payroll records and employee information.
· Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data.
· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
· Prepare and submit required payroll reports to union representatives and government agencies.
· Assist in audits and provide necessary documentation as required.
· Handle payroll inquiries from employees and management
· Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
· Prepare payroll reports for management review
· Assist with year-end payroll processes and tax filings
· Stay updated on payroll regulations and best practices
Requirements:
· Bachelors degree preferred, but will consider relevant experience
· 5+ years of experience in payroll processing
· Strong understanding of payroll tax laws and regulations
· Proficiency in payroll software
· Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
