A Technical Writer is responsible for creating user-friendly and accurate content to help others understand complex information. The Technical Writer composes all technical documentation for distribution to external partners and end users as well as documentation for internal distribution. This position communicates with subject matter experts throughout the organization to gather information needed to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Responsibilities:
- Create user manuals, guides, and documentation for software, hardware, and technical processes
- Develop and maintain technical content for websites, blogs, and knowledge bases
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information and validate content
- Edit and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Use help authoring tools (HATs) and content management systems (CMS) to create and publish content
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technical communication
- Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in technical writing or related field
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
- Ability to understand complex technical information and communicate it simply
- Familiarity with HATs and CMS platforms
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Nice to Have:
- Certification in technical writing (e.g., CTP, CWC)
- Experience with graphic design and multimedia tools
- Knowledge of XML, HTML, and CSS
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
