As a Project Coordinator, you will be instrumental in organizing, administering, and controlling project activities under the guidance of the Project Manager. Your role involves supporting and collaborating with the Project Manager and Superintendent to oversee and manage assigned projects effectively.
By effectively coordinating between project managers, trades, suppliers, and other departments, you will help ensure that all project milestones are met and that construction operations run smoothly. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining project specifications and schedules, reviewing construction plans for compliance with codes and regulations, pricing custom items for sales staff, processing change orders, and assisting Project Managers as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Review construction plans for compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural.
- Prepare and maintain all project construction specifications and schedules.
- Assist in schedule development and implementation in the field.
- Plan construction projects and prepare schedules with deliverables and milestones.
- Track project schedules with Site Superintendents to keep construction on track, adjusting timelines as required.
- Communicate regularly with Site Superintendents to ensure all critical items (footings, exterior envelope, etc.) are completed to standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to determine project specifications.
- Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
- Assist in the tendering process for new phases and new plans, as directed by the Project Manager.
- Assist in the review, processing, and tracking of shop drawings.
- Review and understand trade contracts and scopes of work.
- Perform additional duties as required by the Project Manager.
Qualifications:
- Two or more years of experience in single or multi-family residential construction, with strong knowledge of construction processes.
- Technical diploma in an appropriate construction-related field (Construction Management, CET, Architectural Technology, Building Construction Technology Project Management, Blueprint Reading, Estimating, Construction Fundamentals).
- PMP Certification/Microsoft Project Certification or similar certification is an asset.
- Ability to read, understand, and review construction drawings, shop drawings, change notices, and site instructions.
- Strong technical foundation in various building types, subcontractor work scopes, construction systems and methods, construction specifications, building codes and requirements, tendering practices, and contract types.
- Broad knowledge of the Alberta Building Code.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe or Bluebeam Revu.
- Solid understanding of all construction trades, safety protocols, and construction techniques.
