Job Summary:
The Plant Manager / Operations Superintendent will oversee all daily operations of the plant from production and manufacturing to ensuring policies and procedures are followed. They will develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality, and productivity. This role requires strong leadership, project management skills, and a deep understanding of ASME and API standards in metal fabrication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operations Management:
- Oversee the entire manufacturing process, from raw material procurement to final product shipment.
- Ensure efficient production, adhering to ASME and API standards, and meeting project deadlines.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, plans, and procedures to improve plant efficiency and productivity.
- Monitor production metrics and KPIs, driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all plant operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and relevant industry standards.
- Promote a culture of safety, enforcing safe work practices and leading safety training programs.
- Oversee regular safety audits and implement corrective actions.
- Quality Assurance:
- Maintain and enhance the quality management system to meet ASME and API standards.
- Address any quality issues promptly and effectively, implementing root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Work closely with the QA/QC team to ensure that products meet or exceed customer specifications.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and manage a team of production supervisors, engineers, and shop floor employees.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide training, mentoring, and development opportunities to staff.
- Project Management:
- Manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineering, and sales teams to align production schedules with customer requirements.
- Address any project-related issues, including resource allocation, technical challenges, and change orders.
- Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the plant budget, including labor, materials, and overhead costs.
- Monitor and control costs, driving initiatives to improve financial performance and efficiency.
- Report on financial performance and production metrics to senior management.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for plant operations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Communicate effectively with senior management, customers, and suppliers.
- Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and events as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in plant management or operations in a metal fabrication environment.
- Extensive knowledge of ASME and API standards, particularly related to pressure vessels and carbon steel tanks.
- Proven track record of leading and managing large-scale manufacturing operations.

Physical Demands:
