Street Haven is a dynamic women’s multi-service agency that provides shelter, supportive housing, training supports, and addictions therapy to vulnerable women in Toronto. We were established in 1965 and serve 1500 annually. We have seen an increasing complexity of mental health and addictions needs among our clients. We are seeking a qualified and passionate candidate to take on this temporary role who can be part of our high performing team and provide comprehensive support to improve the lives of our clients.
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Executive Director with a matrix reporting relationship with several management team members, the Project Manager will oversee renovation and new development projects at multiple sites within the city and will be primarily responsible for the ongoing management of project plans & for ensuring projects are completed within the restraints of time, quality and budget. This position is a full time one year contract position, with possibility of extension.
Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of project planning and execution, from initiation through closing including day-to-day management of resources and tasks.
- Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring feasibility.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project objectives and ensure alignment with business goals.
- Hire and coordinate contractors and architects.
- Obtain any required permits and licences to ensure project deliverables.
- Monitor project progress, timelines, and adjust resources as needed to meet deadlines.
- Manage project changes and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain contingency plans for renovation and development projects.
- Coordinate, manage and oversee construction activities including site visits.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and communicate status updates to key stakeholders.
- Coordinate activities and deliverables among a diverse group of consultants, architects, and subcontractors.
- Develop plans and procedures to minimize disruptions for clients and staff using a feminist and trauma-informed approach that may arise out of renovation and development projects.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience, experience in construction management required.
- Post-secondary education in project management or related field, prefer an undergraduate and graduate degree.
- Certification in Project Management (PMP) required.
- Experience working in the not-for-profit industry, an asset.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations and related Building Codes with a thorough and in depth understanding of Ontario’s Building Code.
- Familiarity with City of Toronto renovation and development approval process including obtaining licences and permits.
- Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.Experience applying these frameworks to project management methodologies.

- Budget planning and financial management skills.
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites withing the GTA.
- Strong computer skills and experience working with MS Office mandatory, and MS Project and other project management software an asset.
How We Work:
This is a full-time role that operates under standards operating business hours (40 hours per week), Monday to Friday, with some evening or weekend requirements.
Where we work
This role is based in Downtown Toronto and requires working in-office and travelling to multiple sites within the city.
