Content Producer
Location: Sacramento or Los Angeles
Position Overview:
CNVP is seeking a creative and thoughtful Content Producer to amplify our
communications message, primarily through video, on our social platforms, website,
and on other communications materials. The Content Producer will be responsible for
writing, shooting, editing, and posting content that boosts engagement and amplifies our
mission, message, and community wins to our core audience and the public at large.
Responsible for reviewing audio and visual footage and using computer software to
organize clips into a cohesive unit. Must have collaboration skills, and the ability to think
creatively, nimbly and quickly. Understand the nuances and cadence of visual
storytelling and be able to pivot on the fly, if necessary. The Content Producer will report
directly to the Director of Communications. Must provide your own gear. Please provide
a reel of recent video work.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
● Create high-quality and engaging content for various platforms, including
website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and more.
● Maintain and manage social channels, uploading content at regular intervals.
● Creatively contribute to content brainstorming sessions.
● Understand best practices, including SEO, for social platforms such as
Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Tiktok.
Tasks May Include:
● Writing press releases, website content, and social captions
● Shooting footage and/or still photos at events, panels or other activities
organized by the CNVP
● Conducting interviews with community members, partners, etc.
● Assembling raw footage and transferring or uploading to a computer
● Following a script or outline
● Inputting sound to enhance footage, which may include selecting music and
writing voice overs
● Inputting graphics to enhance footage
● Digitally splicing film and video and synchronizing them into one rough cut tile.
● Gathering additional assets from outside sources
● Improving and correcting lighting, coloring, and faulty footage.
● Reformatting videos for optimal social media consumption.
● Working closely with the communications team to present a final product that
matches his or her vision.
● Other duties as assigned by the communications team.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing,
Film, or a related field
● Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in journalism, television, radio, film, sound
production or new media, communications, public relations, marketing, or related
roles.
● Proficiency with camera equipment
● Ability to direct individuals on camera
● Proficiency setting up lighting for video
● Technical experience and skills in video, audio and pre-, during and post-
production, such as digital editing, video compression for multiple platforms as well as
motion graphics design.
● Understanding of Native communities, issues, and cultural nuances, with
experience working with or within Native American organizations.
● Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to craft
compelling narratives and tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
● Proficiency in digital marketing or organizing, social media management, and
website content management systems.
● Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work effectively
in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
ABOUT CNVP
The California Native Vote Project’s (CNVP) mission is justice and self-determination for
Native American communities through multigenerational power building, organizing, and
civic engagement. CNVP is the first-of-its-kind statewide effort to engage Native
American communities across dozens of counties to build political power through an
integrated voter engagement strategy, which centers community organizing, and braids
on top of that other strategies to achieve people-powered movements — including
political education, leadership development; voter education, registration and
protections; policy advocacy; research; and Native candidate preparation.
