Tappan is an e-commerce startup at the intersection of luxury, fine art, and retail, dedicated to connecting collectors to emerging and mid-career contemporary artists and inspiring people to become patrons of new voices in art and design. Position Overview: As the E-commerce Manager, you will oversee our online sales and presence, ensuring a seamless customer experience and driving growth through effective content strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and UX optimization. You will leverage your expertise in Shopify, project management, analytics, content design, and visual merchandising to enhance our online storefront and achieve our business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate artwork launches and new artist launches with our internal curation team and our content team
- Manage and optimize our Shopify platform to drive sales and enhance user experience.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase traffic, conversion rates, and average order value.
- Lead e-commerce projects from conception to completion, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Utilize analytics tools to monitor performance metrics, generate reports, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Own the on-site inventory and content flows for product launches and in-gallery events
- Own the design and layout of our online store, ensuring visual consistency and effective merchandising of products.
- Stay current with e-commerce trends, best practices, and technologies to propose new initiatives and improvements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field OR relevant work experience
- 3+ years of hands-on experience managing Shopify platforms and optimizing e-commerce websites.
- Proven track record in project management, with at least 2 years of experience leading cross-functional projects.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using e-commerce analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics, Excel / Google Sheets).
- Experience in content creation and design, with a keen eye for aesthetics and branding.
- Knowledge of visual merchandising principles and their application in an online retail environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners.
- Desire to work in a creative, collaborative office environment
- Passion for creativity and innovation, with a proactive mindset to drive continuous
- Improvement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working for a Luxury Brand
- Content design and or visual merchandising experience
- Experience in a marketing department or working very closely with one
- Familiarity with SEO principles and strategies to enhance organic search visibility
- Understanding of UX/UI principles and their application in e-commerce
- And interest in contemporary art, fashion and design and a passion to learn
