Provides creative concepts for Print, Marketing and Display areas of Modernistic. Functions as artistic liaison between the company and its customers, providing design concepts that capitalize on the process and materials available. Coordinates projects from concept through prototype stages and then transfers functional designs to production.
DUTIES
Completes creative design projects
- Coordinates with internal teams and customers in the design concept phase.
- Plans and produces creative concepts utilizing Creative Cloud and other design software.
- Assists in prototype creation of designed products; makes design improvements based on feedback.
- Defines and documents product requirements, technical specifications and material lists.
- Monitors the status of projects to ensure prototype or design drawings are submitted according to schedule.
- Organizes projects while assuring they are completed in a timely manner to the satisfaction of both internal and external customers.
- Develops and documents product solutions that are material and labor efficient that enhance overall design requirements.
- Provides regular progress reports to Art Director and Sales as needed.
- Conducts research on new methods, developments and innovations; recommends to management and team as appropriate.
Sales/Customer interface
- Provides technical support to the sales team on design projects to capture, dazzle and retain new customers.
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal Sales staff and Customer Service Team.
- Participates in design kickoff meetings.
- Interacts with vendors to ensure effective implementation of customer requests.
- Attends and/or organizes manufacturer and distributor presentations on new substrate and material development.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Considerable ability to create visual concepts and ideas that engage and appeal to customers.
- Thorough knowledge of Creative Cloud applications to formulate flat and dimensional products/designs.
- Considerable knowledge of the design, printing and fabrication process as it relates to retail environments.
- Considerable ability to merge design, printing and fabrication process knowledge with established production requirements.
- Considerable problem-solving skills; able to respond well to questions and analyze complex project requirements.
- Working knowledge of engineering and design principles, SketchUp, Shader 3D, Strada.
- Working knowledge of video editing.
- Considerable communication skills.
- Considerable ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Working Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Working time management skills and deadline orientation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school graduate plus 2-4 year secondary school completion with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- 3 – 5 years experience in a related field, working with Adobe Creative Cloud or related design software.
