About Quest of Sages:
Quest of Sages is a multidisciplinary project inspired by an artistic journey to photograph one person from every country in the world. Each person photographed is asked to paint a line across a piece of blank paper and their portrait is later printed on top of their painting. Once all 197 countries are completed, the resulting images will be displayed as an installation by connecting the line segments together and ultimately creating one unbroken line the entire world painted.
Rather than retelling the story as a traditional travelogue, a mythological saga is being written. The book series incorporates wisdom gathered throughout the journey, as well as local myths, legends and folktales from the cultures visited, creating a fictional universe around the quest and transcending traditional storytelling by blurring the line between fantasy and reality.
Along the way, we work with communities and organizations in each country visited to support cultural preservation. We believe that the innovative use of conceptual art and fictional storytelling can help marginalized communities around the world preserve their heritage and share cultural knowledge more effectively than through traditional methods of communication such as journalism and documentary filmmaking. Using highly creative channels allows individuals to digest difficult material while also inspiring a deeper connection to achieve cultural awareness and opportunities for social impact.
About the Internship Position:
Quest of Sages is seeking a Project Manager Intern to join our team. This is an unpaid internship opportunity that offers valuable experience in all aspects of project management. You will work directly with the founder of the organization to assist in various tasks related to the art, narrative and impact ares of the project listed above. This is a remote position that requires a commitment of 20 hours per week. We are an organization strongly rooted in cross-cultural collaboration. Applicants residing outside of the United States will be considered and are encouraged to apply. English fluency is required. Work hours are flexible and task based. College credit may be offered.
Responsibilities May Include
- Assist in building and developing nonprofit programs that align with the organization's mission and vision.
- Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase online presence and engagement.
- Support the creation and execution of fundraising strategies to secure funding for the project's initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of marketing strategies to promote the project and its impact.
- Help with volunteer onboarding and coordination to ensure effective participation and support.
- Collaborate with the founder and team members on various project management tasks.
- Conduct research to support the narrative and artistic components of the project.
- Work with communities and organizations in different countries to support cultural preservation efforts.
- Manage and organize project documentation and files.
- Assist in coordinating virtual events, workshops, and other project-related activities.
- Provide general administrative support as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Project Management, Arts Administration, Cultural Studies, Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management or a related field.
- Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interest in cultural preservation, global issues, folklore/mythology and/or the arts.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to think creatively and contribute to innovative storytelling and artistic projects.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively to meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with flexible hours.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and adapt to different cultural contexts.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, processes, and tasks.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
- Any prior experience in project management, cultural preservation projects, or the arts is a plus, but not required.
