Title: Project Manager (IT) – Senior
Duration: 15 Months Contract
Location: Edmonton, AB (Remote with Occasional Office Visits)
Notes on Location:
Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month.
Job Description
Manage multiple projects, project resources and project governance.
Work with project sponsors to ensure that effective project communication exists through the duration of the project including escalation of risks as required.
Collaborate with business and IT leadership to develop a well-defined project plan that clearly states the project’s objectives, scope, assumptions, timeline, resource requirements, risks, benefits and budget.
Document and report project status against established objectives, milestones, budget and resources and facilitate tracking and closure of issues and risks.
Must Have Skills
Bachelor degree in Business, IT or a related field of study.
Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
Experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs and project closures.
Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
Experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex custom software application development project (where the software is developed in house for that specific organization) in an environment of similar size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, troubleshoot, work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to manage stress and conflict.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, management and vendors.
Experience conducting, facilitating and interpreting impact and risk assessments across multiple scenarios.
Experience creating and managing project forecasts in Microsoft Project.
Experience developing and maintaining positive relationships across the organization, from front line staff to executives.
Experience in project coordination of government and vendor-wide information management / information technology initiatives
Experience leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels.
Experience leading change management and communication planning.
Experience leading custom software application development projects following a formal project life cycle methodology.
Experience working in or for the public sector.
Duration - Experience working on Transition Service Desk Project(s) projects.
Experience working with AI-driven support systems, call management strategies, and contact center technologies.
