Utilities Standards Forum (USF) is a non-profit organization supporting its 54 Ontario electricity distributor utility members. Established in 2005, this community of Engineering, IT, Regulatory, and Customer Service professional provides its members the opportunity to network, share knowledge and experiences, and together develop resources and consistent approaches to their operations.
Mandate & Responsibilities
Reporting to USF’s Executive Director, the this new role will own all projects from ideation through to completion and approval for release. The projects will cover all aspect of business administration and management across all functional areas of an electricity utility (engineering design, operations, cyber security, IT services, regulatory & finance, customer service), and will range from the development of a best practice guide or a template policy, to the creation of a complex excel model, or mapping out a process flow chart. The Project Manager will work closely with with volunteers from the membership, and industry consultants to complete the various assignments. Responsibilities include:
- Project Leadership: coordinating and facilitating meetings of Working Group participants and / or hired consultants, defining the scope with the members needs in mind, the resources, and the workplan while inspiring the team to achieve the objective
- Project Work: with inputs and resources provided by volunteers and others, complete the deliverable in-house
- Contract Management: managing the quotation or RFP, and contracting processes when hiring external consultants, coordinate inputs and edits from the Working Group
- Consultant Management: coordinating internal efforts with the consultant, managing and monitoring the work to complete the project
- Multi-tasking & Prioritization: effectively manage a number of projects simultaneously
- Administration: keep comprehensive meeting notes and drafts
- Reporting: provide project updates to the Executive Director and to Advisory Councils for further collaboration and direction
Experience, Key Qualifications, & Skills
USF seeks an experienced project manager with exceptional written and verbal communication skills, who will take ownership of all assigned job duties. Demonstrated initiative and the ability to complete tasks with minimal instruction and oversight are imperative to success in this position as well as the following:
- A post secondary degree in Business Administration; MBA considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in a business related projects-based setting
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building abilities; demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate meetings, fostering a collaborative team environment while driving for results
- A solutions-oriented mindset with attention to detail, and strong analytical skills
- Proven proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Acrobat
- Able to travel to the GTA as needed
- Having Ontario electrical utility knowledge considered an asset
Work Hours and Location
- USF is a virtual workplace; this individual will be required to work from home or their own chosen space, ideally between Guelph, ON and West GTA. Expected work hours are between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday.
