Microsoft Access Database Developer
Job Description
The ideal candidate will excel in Access development and possess strong skills in working with clients to effectively gather and clarify requirements.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with clients to gather business requirements, often by analyzing existing Excel spreadsheets and current processes.
- Drafting a concise one to two-page general specification document with estimated project timelines.
- Developing the database, delivering a beta version for client testing, and incorporating feedback from user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Making necessary adjustments based on client requests to ensure project success.
Requirements:
- Ability to commit to a minimum of 80 hours per month; ideally 160 hours.
- Availability for periodic client meetings via Zoom; otherwise, work hours can be flexible and outside of traditional business hours.
- Location is not a constraint as all work will be conducted remotely.

The Access Database Developer position encompasses the following responsibilities:
- Full database creation: Creating MS Access databases from inception.
- Client communication: Engaging with clients via phone or email to comprehend their requirements.
- Requirements gathering: Collecting necessary information to formulate a project quote for new databases.
- Excel to Access conversion: Converting Excel programs into efficient Access databases.
- Comprehensive database design: Designing entire MS Access databases from scratch.
- Quality assurance: Conducting thorough quality control testing.
- Delivery, installation, and deployment: Ensuring seamless implementation and deployment of databases.
- Client change requests: Promptly responding to and implementing changes requested by clients.
- Database modification: Modifying existing MS Access databases in accordance with specifications and requirements.
Must have:
1..1000+ hours Access database experience
2. Able to communicate easily and successfully, in English, both verbally and in writing
3. Excellent time management skills and ability to work independently (remotely) while managing your own time and providing time estimates and status updates.
4. Comfort and ease when dealing with clients
5. Be able to adapt and quickly develop an understanding of new/different applications
Nice to have (but not required)
1. SQL Server experience
2. Experience with other database programs
3. Past jobs with similar and related skills: DBA, administrator, software engineer, architect, business analysis
