Job Summary
Reporting directly to a County Clerk Division Supervisor or Coordinator, responsible for performing clerical duties that support the daily operations of the Williamson County Clerk's Office.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
- Provides direct customer service in person, assisting citizens with walk-in requests
- Answers incoming calls for Department, directing calls to appropriate personnel
- Opens, sorts and processes mail
- Makes plain and certified copies for customers and public use
- Review documents for statutory requirements
- Collects payments and is responsible for a till
- Performs data entry for legal documents such as real property documents, deeds of trust, affadavits, abstract of judgments and tax liens
- Processes return letter for documents short on fees for recording, for wrong county, or other return reasons
- Conducts research for specific lien searches
- Ensures comprehensive filing systems are maintained and up to date
- Enters and verifies data within applicable databases and/or systems
- Cross-trains with office staff in other areas to ensure continuity of departmental operations
- Creates and maintains various reports related to assigned division
- Creates and maintains forms, worksheets, and informational materials
- Attends all meetings and trainings, as required
- Performs other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and lifting/carrying up to 30-40 lbs

- Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
IRREGULAR HOURS
- Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
- May be deemed essential personnel in the event of an emergency

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma OR equivalent
- One (1) year of clerical experience including cash handling and customer service
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in related field
- Prior experience working in a legal capacity
- Three (3) years of clerical experience including cash handling and customer service
