The Role:
We’re seeking to hire a Project Coordinator who is committed to collaboration, taking initiative, organization and getting things done. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Education and Outreach to manage and be the day-to-day contact for a wide range of clients. This will include helping deliver our growing interpretive signage projects.
For this role, we’re in search of someone who is looking to grow their skills in the field of science communication, leveraging a strong foundation of project management, writing, excellent customer service and organization/planning. This individual will have experience in education pedagogy, Indigenous ways of knowing and science, specifically the fields of environmental and conservation sciences or at a minimum have a strong interest in these disciplines.
The project coordinator manages aspects of project planning and acts as a channel of information flow between our internal team, vendor partners and the client. The project coordinator plays a critical role in supporting and managing the client relationship and connecting workplans for individual projects to the needs and timelines of a growing team.
A successful candidate will possess meticulous organization skills with a proven ability to see projects through to completion. The individual will have the ability to understand complex projects, break them down into a series of tasks, and coordinate and manage tasks through our Asana project management software. The individual will have strong listening and communication skills and the ability to synthesize, develop and present clear and concise communications in a way that not only articulates our team’s point of view but also respects the best interests of, and delivers value to, the client.
This role may require the ability to attend in-person meetings for signage site visits, overseeing the installation of interpretive signs, and meeting with clients (access to a vehicle is a must). These meetings mostly occur in or near Edmonton, Alberta and therefore preference will be given to candidates who are located in the Edmonton area.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage internal and external communications for projects within the Education and Outreach branch
- Coordinate the writing and development of scope of work/proposal documents and project budgets for the Education and Outreach branch
- Collaborate in the management of staff capacity allocations and contribute information to company wide resource allocations
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure a smooth transition from digital products to printed and installed products that reflect Fuse’s commitment to excellence.
- Attend key meetings with clients to take notes and provide meeting summaries to all parties to ensure expectations are aligned by all attendees
- Compile and format reports, proposals and presentations in Microsoft Word and Powerpoint.
- Set up and participate in After Action Reviews to collect feedback from our internal team and clients to identify areas for improvement.
- Travel to, and be the main point of contact for on-site interpretive signage installations
Qualifications

- Evidence of a strong commitment to personal growth, excellence in your work, and influence through thoughtful contributions to science-based discussions
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, and manage multiple tasks with a willingness to learn
- An undergraduate degree, preferably in Education, Environmental Sciences or Business Administration will be considered an asset but is not mandatory
- 2 to 3 years experience in a related role is preferred
- Proficient in managing project budgets and understanding how to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
- Tact and good judgement in sensitive and confidential situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to target your writing and adapt your tone and style to meet the requirements of various clients and media
- Meticulous attention to detail and an appreciation for organization and process
- Ability to adjust to changing demands and timelines
- General knowledge of the structures and operations of many different types of organizations, including government, private enterprise, and research programs
- Advanced skills in MS suite of products, and web-based applications such as Asana (project management tool) and Harvest (time tracking application).
Position Details
This position is a 12 month contract salaried position with the opportunity to gain Full-Time employment upon completion of the 12 month period. The candidate will play a key role in helping us grow our business and our influence at Fuse.

Fuse staff can work from one of two office locations (Edmonton, AB, Salmon Arm, BC) and may have the option to work remotely.
The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $67,000 for a 37.5-hour work week, and this position would qualify for a performance-based bonus.
