Our growing educational publishing company seeks a skilled and detail-oriented Content Editor to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in refining and enhancing educational materials for K-12 students.
Responsibilities:
- Content Editing: Conduct thorough content reviews to ensure clarity, age-appropriateness, and alignment with K-12 curriculum standards .
- Content Revision and Rewriting: Revise and rewrite content as needed to enhance clarity, capture student interest, and effectively communicate learning objectives.
- Collaborate with authors and subject matter experts to ensure the educational value and instructional effectiveness of K-12 materials.
- Live Document Editing Pro: Demonstrate proficiency in working with live documents for efficient real-time collaboration.
- Developing Resources: Contribute to the development of program resources specific to K-12 education, such as major and minor mapping, scope and sequence documents, learning plans, and student assessments.
- Quality Assurance Champion: Uphold and enforce high-quality standards in written content, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and strict adherence to company style and sensitivity guidelines.
- Meeting Deadlines: Adhere to project timelines and deadlines, ensuring timely completion of content editing tasks. Communicate potential challenges or delays in meeting deadlines promptly.
- Meeting Participation: Attend and actively contribute to team meetings, providing updates on project status and contributing valuable insights.
- Style Guide Adherence: Adhere strictly to the company's style guide to maintain consistency and quality in written content.
- Sensitivity Guideline Adherence: Strictly adhere to the company's sensitivity guidelines, ensuring that content is respectful, inclusive, and aligned with ethical standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in educational publishing, with a focus on content editing for K-12 learners.
- Proficiency in working with live document collaboration tools (e.g., Google Docs).
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in written and visual content.
- Demonstrate effective communication skills in both written and verbal interactions. Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment through transparent and open communication
- Familiarity with educational standards and instructional design principles, particularly for K-12 education.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
- Proficiency in Adobe Pro: Utilize Adobe Pro for efficient and precise editing, contributing to the enhancement of design elements and overall content presentation
Contract Information:
- Contract Type: Independent Contractor Agreement - Freelance
- Reporting Manager: Senior Content Editor
- Working Hours: 8 hours/day.
- Working Days: Monday-Friday
- Agreement Period: 1 year (might be extendable based on projects)
- Start Date: Immediately.
- Salary: $5600 Monthly
