Job Summary
ISG is looking for a contract SEO Content Writer to help our editorial team enrich our websites with new blog posts, guides, and marketing copy. The position may include the potential to go permanent in the future.
The SEO Content Writer's responsibilities include conducting thorough research on industry-related topics, generating ideas for new content types, and writing content that helps drive conversions based on the organization’s goals. The ideal hire will be an accomplished self-editor who proofreads with detail and can produce clean copy that does not sound like AI-mass-produced work, even if AI is used to assist the process. For this reason, you need to have mastery of English vocabulary, usage, and audience to understand what is appropriate diction for each assignment.

Compensation and Hours
$0.10 a word, or $100 for a 1000-word blog. Hours worked can be flexible, with a minimum commitment of one blog per week to start. If the position becomes permanent, more hours may be required.
Essential Functions
- Conducting in-depth research on industry-related topics in order to develop original content
- Writing engaging content for blogs, articles, eBooks, infographics, and other assets
- Proofreading content for errors and inconsistencies
- Staying up to date on industry trends to support content development
- Diversification of content so it can be reformatted across platforms and audiences
- Ensuring all-around consistency (style, fonts, images, and tone)
- Distilling complex technical concepts and language into content that is easily understood
- Creating compelling headlines and body copy that will capture the attention of the target audience
- Creating simple graphics and posting articles using WordPress
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, or a related field
- Experience in long-form content writing
- A portfolio of articles or writing samples, preferably with online publications
- Excellent writing, editing, and fact-checking skills
- Ability to adapt your writing voice for different audiences and purposes
- Comfort with writing about technology in an engaging way
- Training in detailed research, accurate source citation, and adherence to style guides
- Understanding of plagiarism and ethical writing practices
- Familiarity with generative AI platforms like ChatGPT for concepting, outlining, and drafting content, but without relying on AI for writing ability and editing. You should be expert enough to edit AI’s outcomes—AI should not edit you.
- Basic understanding of SEO best practices
- Good time management skills, including prioritizing, scheduling, and adapting as necessary
- Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with team members
