Job Description: As a Health Information Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, privacy, and security of patient information and health records. You will manage and optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems, ensure compliance with regulations, and lead a team of health information professionals. Your role will be crucial in supporting the organization’s mission to provide high-quality healthcare through effective data management and analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Management: Oversee the maintenance, accuracy, and confidentiality of patient health records and databases. Ensure data is entered correctly and up-to-date.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HIPAA. Implement and enforce data protection and privacy policies.
- System Oversight: Manage and optimize electronic health record (EHR) systems. Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with IT for upgrades and maintenance.
- Reporting & Analysis: Generate and analyze reports related to patient data, billing, and health outcomes. Use data to support clinical decision-making and improve operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and train health information staff. Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct audits to ensure the accuracy and completeness of health records. Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and other stakeholders to address data-related needs and concerns.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field. Certification from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) or similar credential is preferred.
- Experience: Experience in health information management or a related field, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills: Proficiency in EHR systems and health information software. Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and data privacy laws. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Attributes: Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
