Our association management organization seeks an experienced magazine layout production designer to design magazines, program books, newsletters, and other printed collateral. The main goal of this role is to layout various print magazines, compile all content including ads and articles for magazines, and adhere to strict and numerous deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have an eye for design, including the use of color, form, and typography for reader engagement. They will have experience working with Adobe Creative Suite, have project management skills, and have a strong background in print design.
The successful applicant will be a team player who’s ready to give and receive feedback, and aid in the continuous improvement of our publishing processes. You should be a stickler for meeting deadlines and great at multi-tasking, as we balance multiple projects at once.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Layout and design magazines, program books, and newsletters to ensure readability, content balance, and natural flow.
- Coordinate the placement of copy, artwork, and ads with the Editor-in-Chief and other members of the publishing team.
- Work closely with Advertising Sales Representative to reserve space for advertisers, obtain ad artwork, and ensure obligations to ad clients are met.
- Work with Communications team to keep jobs moving, on time, and on budget.
- Produce the final PDF version of magazines for print and digital distribution, ensure quality of final products, and ensure they meet publishing standards.
- Organize and maintain files and resources effectively.
- Maintain U.S. Post Office records, issue annual ownership statement, and calculate advertising-to-editorial ratios.
- Follow brand guidelines, curate media, and arrange content.
- Work closely with the creative team on additional design projects, as needed.
Job Requirements
- 2-3 years’ experience in PRINT design
- 3-5 years’ experience in graphic design
- Excellent Adobe Creative Suite skills, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator; familiar with MS Office
- Familiar with project management techniques/methods
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and colleagues in a professional manner
- Degree in Fine Arts, graphic design, or related field a plus

Note: This role is a hybrid position with scheduled days in the office. Office is located in Glenmont, NY (Capital Region). All applicants must be comfortable commuting to and working in a traditional office environment. The option to work at home up to two days per week will be granted after training period is complete.
