Job Details:
Role: Lead SQL Database Developer [Azure Cloud services and Banking/Financial background]
Location: Minneapolis, MN/ Hybrid [ 3 days a week]
Responsibilities:
- Lead Database Design and Development: Lead the design and development of SQL Server databases, including data modeling, schema design, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Cloud Migration: Lead the migration of the existing MS SQL Server implementation to a cloud-ready solution, ensuring that the data model and database architecture are optimized for the cloud environment.
- Azure Integration: Collaborate with the IT team to integrate MS SQL Server with Azure services such as Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Synapse Analytics, leveraging the benefits of cloud-based data management and analytics.
- Strategy Alignment: Ensure that the data model and solutions align with the client's roadmap and strategy for cloud adoption, providing recommendations and implementing best practices for cloud readiness.
- Team Leadership: Provide guidance and leadership to a team of SQL developers, overseeing the design and development of database solutions while driving the adoption of cloud technologies within the team.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of the latest developments in MS SQL Server and Azure technologies, driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the performance, scalability, and security of the database solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 10+ years of proven experience as a SQL Server Developer or Database Administrator, with at least 5 years in a lead or senior role.
- Expertise in database design, T-SQL programming, performance tuning, and database administration
- Strong understanding of relational database principles and best practices.
- The candidate should have extensive experience working with MS SQL Server, including database design, development, optimization, and administration.
- Cloud Experience: It is preferable for the candidate to have exposure to cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, with a suggested certification such as AZ-900. This would demonstrate an understanding of Azure fundamentals and the ability to work with cloud-based solutions.
- Data Modeling Expertise: The candidate should be adept at data modeling for MS SQL Server, with the ability to design efficient and scalable database structures.
