Summary
Our client is a venture studio who are seeking an experience software engineering leader who will keep a hands on role leading 12 person team helping their customers build new concepts through to first MVP's. They are a well funded studio backed by some of the biggest private equity firms who are solving problems for deeply embedded software companies across multiple B2B portfolios and domains.
This role is ideal for someone who still enjoys coding, and building and iterating fast. You will have a strong team at your disposal to deliver on new projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hands-on Development: Spend 80% of your time coding and developing software. As a key technical leader, you will be instrumental in crafting sophisticated AI solutions and should thrive in a highly dynamic and agile development environment. You should be comfortable building early products individually before a team is built out. This will be crucial to our validation framework for incubations.
- Technical Leadership and Architectural Oversight: Guide the creation and implementation of AI-driven application layer products using state-of-the-art technologies such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, React, Next.js, and Node.js. Ensure optimal practices in cloud deployments across platforms like AWS, GCP, and Azure.
- Strategic Recruitment and Community Building: Directly responsible for hiring CTOs and early technical talent for our portfolio companies. Cultivate a vibrant community of NYC-based hackers and builders, enhancing our local innovation ecosystem.
- Team Building and Mentorship: Rapidly assemble and lead a high-caliber team, starting with a trusted Senior/Principal Engineer. Foster a culture of high performance, agility, and innovation within your team.
- Agile Execution and Problem-Solving: Embrace and drive continual changes in project priorities and objectives, demonstrating high velocity in problem-solving and decision-making within a fast-paced, agile environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 10 years of hands-on coding and software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role such as CTO, SVP, or Head of Engineering, in a startup or B2B software context.
- Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern AI frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch. Comprehensive experience with cloud technologies is essential and developing a modern AI tool stack.
- Leadership and Vision: Proven ability in leading technical teams, with exceptional skills in hiring and nurturing top talent. Experience building and scaling teams in high-growth environments.
