The Social Media Lead is a full-time position based in Los Angeles. The SML will be responsible for developing and executing a robust social strategy for Higher Ground — with a particular focus on the Audio Slate, including a video-first strategy for our always on network of shows.. Additionally, the SML will be responsible for building and executing a social strategy in support of Higher Ground’s film and TV productions and any future endeavors. This is a creative and highly strategic role that requires an intimate knowledge of all major social media platforms and the best tactics required to build an audience on key platforms including YouTube, Tik Tok, and Instagram. The SML must have experience working with partners inside and outside a media organization, a collaborative spirit, and the drive to build an audience and maintain a social media presence on all key platforms in support of our content.
Duties and Necessary Experience
- Proven ability to build audience and drive viewership/listenership on multiple social media platforms.
- Intimate knowledge of the current digital landscape and expertise in applicable tactics for elevating the Higher Ground projects, voice and vision.
- Skills to develop a mix of content types, including posts, stories, videos, and live streams, to drive engagement and audience growth.
- Experience in editing videos for social media, ensuring they are optimized for platform-specific requirements and audience engagement.
- Track project timelines across the slate to craft a social strategy for all upcoming content releases.
- Track and measure KPIs, including follower growth, engagement rates, and conversion metrics; Provide insights and recommendations based on data to optimize future campaigns.
- Coordinate with external PR, Comms and marketing teams to create strategies for reaching and growing the Higher Ground audience.
- Collaborate with partners and platforms (Netflix, Audible, etc.) to integrate Higher Ground’s content into their existing digital presence.
- Plan and manage the development, posting, and ongoing optimization of the social media calendar, with a core focus on YouTube, Tik Tok and Instagram.
- Coordinate with our partners’ social teams to ensure fidelity to brand voice and appropriate posting and cadence.
- Expertise in sharp, concise, sticky copy-writing for social media consumption.
Platform Expertise and Technical Skill Requirements
- Expertise in all major social media platforms, but with a special focus on YouTube, Tik Tok, and Instagram.
- Fluency in and deep passion for the media business, with a particular focus on podcasting.
- The Google Business Suite, Microsoft Business Suite, Dropbox, Airtable, Slack, Expensify, Adobe Creative Suite, and all standard
- Familiarity with video editing software and tools, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve, to create high-quality content for various platforms.
- Strong understanding of video production workflows and ability to work with quick turnarounds.
