Position Overview: The Mechanical Project Manager will oversee and manage industrial piping projects from inception to completion. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, industrial piping, and project management methodologies. The successful candidate will ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Coordination:
- Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Manage and monitor project schedules to ensure timely completion of all phases of the project.
- Technical Oversight:
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints for industrial piping systems.
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of piping systems to ensure they meet safety and quality standards.
- Provide technical guidance to the project team and address any issues related to design or installation.
- Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage project budgets, ensuring that all expenditures are tracked and controlled.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement them without compromising project quality.
- Prepare financial reports and forecasts for project performance.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead a team of project engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to execute the project according to plan.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment to enhance team performance and morale.
- Conduct regular project meetings to update the team on progress and address any concerns.
- Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project expectations.
- Address any client concerns or requests promptly and professionally.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients to secure future business opportunities.
- Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards and safety practices.
- Resolve any safety or quality issues that arise during the project.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports to senior management and clients.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and meeting minutes.
- Ensure all project close-out documentation is completed and handed over to the client.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in project management, specifically in industrial piping or mechanical systems.
- Proven track record of managing large-scale industrial projects from start to finish.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, piping installations, and industrial standards.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- PMP or equivalent certification is preferred.
