Job Overview:
Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth coordination and administration of various projects, developments, and related contracts. The Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the planning and execution according to schedule, specifications, safety regulations, and budget on behalf of the property owner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Support the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and organizing projects and developments from start to finish, including drawings, budgets, contracts, schedules, progress reports, and closeout documentation.
· Support, participate, and assist in the procurement and coordination of consultants and contractors.
· Maintain and supervise project documentation, including administering the request for information and submittal process.
· Communicate effectively and maintain excellent relationships with clients, subcontractors, consultants, tenants, and team members.
· Monitor compliance with project schedules, costs, and safety standards.
· Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the timely and delivery of materials and services.
· Monitor project progress, identify potential safety hazards, and report any issues or delays to the Project Manager.
· Assist in developing and refining processes and best practices for the Project Management department, including workflows, documentation standards, and communication protocols.
· Perform other duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications, and Experience:
· A degree in engineering or a construction-related field, or a post-diploma in a relevant field combined with relevant experience.
· A minimum of 2+ years of construction experience, either on-site or as a consultant.
· Knowledge of different construction methods, sequencing, problem-solving, and timelines, with a strong understanding of safety considerations in these areas.
· A basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and control systems.
· Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes
· Ability to troubleshoot problems related to construction and design
· Ability to be flexible, highly organized, and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a safe work environment.
· Ability to understand and interpret engineering/construction plans and specifications
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Ability to establish good working relationships with various stakeholders, including owners, construction managers, consultants, and tradespeople
· Ability to multitask and prioritize
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
· Knowledge of MS Project is an asset.
