GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Sr. Power BI Developer.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Position purpose
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Power BI Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data analysis, business intelligence, and the creation of compelling Power BI reports and dashboards. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to understand their data needs and translating them into technical requirements and solutions.

- Power BI Development: Design, develop, and deploy Power BI dashboards and reports that meet business requirements. Create data models and establish relationships between datasets. Implement and manage Power BI gateways and data refresh schedules. Deploy report bursting to user groups. Use advanced PowerQuery and DAX for report development.
- Design and Develop Cubes: Create and maintain OLAP cubes using technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) to enable efficient data analysis and reporting.
- Build Tabular Models: Develop and deploy tabular models using tools like Power BI, SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT), or Azure Analysis Services to support interactive data exploration and business intelligence.
- Data Visualization: Create compelling and informative visualizations that translate complex data into understandable formats. Develop dashboards, charts, graphs, and other visual tools to present data insights.
- Data Integration and Management: Integrate data from multiple sources, including databases, cloud services, and external APIs. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across all reports and dashboards. Develop and maintain documentation for data sources, models, and processes.
- Data Analysis and Interpretation: Analyze large and complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights. Translate business requirements into technical specifications for data analysis.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and objectives. Collaborate with IT, data teams, and other departments to gather data from various sources. Present findings and visualizations to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI dashboards and reports for performance and usability. Implement best practices for data loading, transformation, and visualization. Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues and make necessary adjustments.
- Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security settings to ensure data privacy and compliance. Ensure reports and dashboards adhere to organizational policies and standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Power BI and data visualization. Recommend and implement new tools, technologies, and best practices. Participate in continuous learning and development activities.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Develop test plans and test cases to ensure solutions meet business requirements. Identify and document defects and work with IT teams to resolve them.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, or Statistics
Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in data analysis, evaluation, and visualization using Power BI
- Healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Experience using Power BI
Performance Requirements
- Proven experience as a Power BI Developer or in a similar role
- Extensive experience with Power BI, including DAX and Power Query
- Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, and ETL processes
- Proficiency in SQL and other database management tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy as well as part of team
- Self-motivated with initiative and a focus on solutions
- Process orientation with the ability to put plans into action
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Equipment Operated: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Work Environment: This job operates in professional office environments.
