The Accounting Quality Control Specialist will be responsible for the quality assurance and control of all aspects of accounting and billing, including, but not limited to, ensuring compliance with the accounting standards and the accuracy of invoicing, revenue reporting, job pipeline tracking, accounts receivables and payables, and enhancing the efficiency of the financial process as an integral member of the accounting team.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Is responsible for the quality assurance and controls of cross-checking the operations data spreadsheets for client billing accuracy and quality control purposes.
- Ability to read, interpret and apply client agreements to ensure accurate billing
- Analyze, identify and resolve invoicing and billing discrepancies based on client agreements and operational data sheets.
- Assist in the development of invoicing and billing controls to eliminate risks
- Ability to communicate professionally interdepartmental to correct discrepancies timely
- Review financial records such as invoicing and payment postings to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and company policies
- Ensuring that all financial transactions and reporting adhere to accounting principles, regulations, and internal guidelines
- Maintains detailed records of financial transactions, reconciliation reports, and quality assurance activities
- Generates reports to provide insights into the accuracy and reliability of financial reports, the status of reconciliations, and any issues identified during the quality assurance process.
- Effectively communicate and liaise with the Operations, Sales and Client Services team members to resolve issues, clarify financial reporting entries, and provide guidance on best practices.
- Will be a backup to the Billing team when needed to ensure accurate invoicing
- Report billing discrepancies to the Accounting Manager promptly to ensure immediate client resolution
- Provide support the Billing team in receiving, tracking, researching, and managing escalated incoming requests and follow up on any pertinent billing issues to ensure deadlines are met
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Competencies:
- General understanding of accounting practices and principles
- Ability to enter data accurately and efficiently into computer software systems
- Familiarity with the tools, concepts and methodologies of quality management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to problem-solving, analytical, root cause analysis, and critical thinking skills
- Able to work independently and as a team player
- Advanced experience in Excel (working and analyzing multiple workbooks, formulas, and data for billing and financial team members)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Education And Experience
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or other business-related course
- A minimum of 3 years in Accounting Quality Assurance Controls is preferred
- 5+ years of high-volume AR/AP, invoicing, and billing experience required
- A minimum of 3 years of Billing quality control experience is preferred
