About the Role:
As the leader of a sophisticated cloud engineering team, this position guides and coaches’ engineers dedicated to developing hybrid cloud infrastructure solutions and applications aligned with Umpqua Bank initiatives. This role plays a central role in infrastructure services via self-service and automation, as well as support your team in providing day to day operational support of various infrastructure components. The position serves as a senior technical resource to contribute to the development of the technical strategy and roadmap for Cloud Operations, utilizing infrastructure services and capabilities and providing product ownership support to technical engineering teams. The position partners with key vendors such as Microsoft, Nutanix, Cisco, Rubrik, VMware and others to plan projects, develop costing models, manage third party risk, and negotiate contracts and is responsible for building and developing a team of high-performing cloud engineers.
- Analyze problems of diverse scope that requires an in-depth understanding of cloud, networking, server/compute, storage, telecommunications, and other related technologies.
- Promote adoption of Infrastructure As Code and automation practices
- Coach and model Agile/DevOps principles in an IT operations environment.
- Partner with other technology teams within TAG to achieve strong ongoing relationships and to create effective solutions.
- Shape the vision and roadmap for public and private cloud initiatives.
- Facilitate vendor management activities to include third party risk, change management, cost control and scheduling.
- Develop internal staff to achieve a high level of proficiency and professionalism; Oversee personnel issues and performance management.
- Administer corporate policies and procedures and ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Partner in the review and recommendation of operational systems and procedures affecting assigned units.
- Maintain quality service and effective operations and support for all assigned internal and external customers.
- Drive results through the effective management of staff.

- Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.

- Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
- May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

About You:
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology preferred.
- 2-4 years of IT operations experience required.
- 1-4 years as a supervisor/lead within an IT department preferred.
- Knowledge of and experience with several core technologies including Microsoft Azure, server operating systems (Windows and Linux), Configuration Management (Puppet, Chef, Ansible), Orchestration tools (vRealize, Terraform), Nutanix, Cisco, and Palo Alto.
- Strong automation skills with PowerShell, Bash, Python, or other scripting software.
- Demonstrated ability to lead highly skilled teams in the delivery of technology solutions to align with priority business goals.
- Knowledge of cloud security standards and best practices.
- Extensive background in managing team performance and collaboration across a large IT group.
- Basic financial budgeting and resource planning.
- Advanced understanding in automating public cloud deployments.
- Possess good organizational, managerial and project management skills.
- Basic knowledge of banking operations and human resources.
- Proven well-developed customer relations skills.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Workstyle: Fully onsite.
Our Benefits:
We offer a competitive total rewards package including base wages and comprehensive benefits. The pay range for this role is $85,115.10 to $135,000.00, and the pay rate for the selected candidate is dependent upon a variety of non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, education, and geographic location. The role may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation and those details will be provided during the recruitment process.
