HR & Payroll Specialist
Farmington, Maine
We are working with our client E. L. Vining & Son in seeking a Payroll & HR Specialist, to be based in their Farmington, ME location. This is a full-time position responsible for processing weekly payroll, maintaining payroll data and employee records and managing employee benefit plans in addition to other general human resources duties.
Requirements of the Payroll & HR Specialist:
- Minimum 3 to 5 years proven experience in a similar role
- Deep understanding of Payroll and HR practices and employment law, including applicable federal, state and employment regulations
- Attention to detail and emphasis on accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
- Knowledge of payroll systems; SAGE 300 experience preferred
- Ability to commute to Farmington, ME Monday through Friday

Responsibilities of the Payroll & HR Specialist:
- Prepare and disburse weekly payroll accurately and on time.
- Update payroll records for status changes, tax updates, direct deposit, and deductions.
- Manage and administer employee benefits and retirement plans
- Execute HR strategies, programs, and policies aligned with organizational goals.
- Source, recruit, and screen candidates.
- Onboard new hires and maintain training and personnel files.
- Manage employee relations and resolve conflicts.
